It does seem from my time today in theĀ artichokeĀ patch that they have not over wintered as well as they should have, this is the second year in a row. This spring when I split them I will add grit to the soil in the hope that it will help stop water sitting around the roots in winter.



If you eat interesting and good food as a child you have something to draw on later in life. I remember my Father baking apples for us in winter. I have started to bake apples myself and am happy to remember just how good they are.
