Lost in translation

Summer Squash is American for Courgette which is French for Zucchini which is Italian…..I did not know all this when I planted the seed for Summer Squash. I know this now that they have started to fruit, maybe we should use the American name as the vegetable has it’s ancestry in the Americans but the variety of Squash typically called Zucchini were developed in Italy in the late 19th century near Milan, so there you have it, know the common names if that is what they are in, or you may be shocked with what develops.

  1. In California, we call them zucchini, however….I prefer courgette! It is much more romantic! Sliced length-wise, brushed with
a little olive oil, and lightly seasoned…then grill outdoors for a real treat!
